Eagle's Quest Tai Chi
Advanced study Reading

March, 2009
Greetings!
I hope this finds you well and in good and vibrant health. We will meet this coming Saturday March 14, at 11 a.m. at Rose Lodge for Advanced Studies. At this point I would like to thank all of you for the extraordinary support you have given me and the work that we do all of these years of your study. I especially want to thank those of you who were able to make it to the USA Hall of Fame Induction ceremony this past weekend. Bill Richter and his wife Sally, Steven Ureles, and Zeke Cannatta and his wife Lorraine, were in attendance, as was Debbie.  I can tell you that I truly felt honored during the entire event. Achieving my Doctorate degree on top of it was even more exciting. The workshops were extraordinary, and each of the amazing masters who were presenting was exceptional. Seeing myself amongst these exquisite talents was certainly an eye-opening experience. Looking inward to see what and who I have become in my life is equally enlightening.
The I Ching tells us that we need to look far and wide, to look inside and outside, to see into the nooks and crannies of experience to gain the fullest understanding of who we are and what we will ultimately become. When we contemplate the laws of heaven and observe the ways of people, we can see into what is truly the Way. Deeply examine your life now and see into who you are, not who you wished you had become, but who you are right now, and see into the future to who you would like to be. Integrate this future self now so that you can transform yourself into that which will serve the world better. Attend to your consciousness with profoundly deep concentration and give expression to the laws of heaven through your hidden spiritual power. These will manifest as you practice your Taijiquan.  This type of concentration will allow you to influence others on levels that are unseen. This type of inner work  can allow you to dominate those who would do you harm without their knowledge. This type of inner development increases peace as a result. Active yielding is a spiritual practice as well as a physical one.
The I Ching guides us to pace ourselves with energy conservation this period. Contemplation helps us develop energy and then we need to keep this chi inward rather than let it get expressed fruitlessly in activities that are unfocussed.  Be careful of your health. Be careful of your energy. Don’t waste your time or your chi on things that defeat your own purpose. Spinning your wheels does not add to your forward progress. Learn to be more effective through ease. An example: we were at a celebration of family and friends, and a puppy in the house came up missing. Everyone went outside calling for “Jewel”.  I went outside searching too. Then I asked the question, “Did anyone see her go out the door?” No one could say they had seen that happen. I went back into the house and having observed that the puppy was growling and hiding earlier under a table, I searched the living room again. It turns out she was hiding behind the couch. Sometimes we are searching in the outer world for that which is really just hiding within. Search yourself, and observe the outer world as well, then make your choices based on that which is most helpful to you.
Humbly Yours,
Dr. David Chandler

P.S. Remember to bring your plate, cup, utensils and water for the day. Please RSVP early, if possible, so we can plan for food.
