August 2009
Greetings!

Advanced Studies will meet this Saturday, August 8 at Rose Lodge as usual from 11am-6pm.  I hope this finds you well, however, I have some sad news to relay. Jeff Mullaly’s father passed away last Thursday evening. I know that we all send our condolences to him, to Anna and to their whole family.  In times of darkness and difficulty there may seem to be no way for progress, tensions arise because emotions run deep. Inner conflict rears its head. Calm is needed and once perspectives have been adjusted one can see which way to go when one reaches a crossroad.

Sometimes in our lives we feel like our wheel of Karma is stuck in the mud. We reach a standstill, and we seem to be spinning our wheels. What are the ideas that we cling to that are decadent? When the ego strives for control and has none, it wants to take charge. Perseverance is the key but not by the ego alone, it only energizes the situation. Neither engaging in hoping for a chance to control the way things are, nor allowing hopelessness to take charge is the way. Patient perseverance is the path. Fate points the way like a compass towards our future.

Be careful during this time. It is one of difficult communications. Rest in your center. Calm your mind and put a balm on your spirit. Rely on your integrity, and your  high moral values and you can see the way.

Please  RSVP so Debbie can plan for food.  She is preparing a fabulous garden lunch.  Remember to bring drinking water for the day as well and your dishes and eating utensils.

Also, Hunts Brook Farm, which is about ¼ mile down the road from the entrance to the parking lot of Waterford Country School, has a farm stand with fresh, organic produce for sale.  Debbie’s brother and sister in law run this farm and the produce can be seen growing in the field.  Feel free to shop after class.  The stand generally closes at 6pm and we will let them know that folks may stop by a little later.  Support our local farmers!

Sincerely yours,
Dr. David Chandler
