Greetings

I hope this finds you well and enjoying the close of the summer. This is a reminder that Advanced Studies is meeting this coming Saturday at 11 a.m. at Rose Lodge in Waterford .    The I Ching reading for this Saturday is Modesty #15, changing to #24 Returning, this represents a process of balancing extremes. The movement is towards equilibrium. All objectives can be accomplished through a sincere and persevering approach. We must become highly self-actualizing. This is a time of moderation in all things. We must allow for new ideas to make their way into our awareness. It is time to center the self so that achievements can be made real. Do your best to avoid creating resistance and challenges to your activities. Hard work or effort comes first. Then comes less effort, and then finally you arrive at effortlessness.

Returning is the beginning of another cycle. Do not try to push the river. Rest in between actions. Rest on your action. Learn to be quiet in the movement. It is time for a fresh approach to gain greater self-awareness and self-knowledge. Pay special attention to the cycle that you are just leaving and you will know better the way towards success in the new cycle. The ancient Chinese would say of this hexagram that it is the apparent pattern of the intelligence of Heaven and Earth. When the Universe shows itself in this way to us, and through us, we must accept our role in the pattern with humility. In this way the power that comes through us is magnified. We must learn to recognize our presence in the world and on the path. Notice what patterns are being played out through you now. Come back to yourself and achieve what is great with modesty and humility.

Please  R.S.V.P. so that Debbie can know for whom to make lunch. Bring your plates and utensils so we can cut down on our environmental footprint.

Humbly yours,
David Chandler
